1. Pearl Jam.
2. Aerosmith.
3. Van Halen. "How many bands from America have been as huge as Van Halen, then had to replace the lead singer and still be as popular, or even more popular, than before?" asked St. Louis reader Christopher Cokenour. "Van Halen's songwriting, whether with David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar, took you to a place of happiness, never getting too heavy, never being too stupid." In addition, Patrick Beam in Little Rock was one of several readers to say "Eddie Van Halen influenced every guitarist that was alive or has been born since."

Kinda cool.....and I just really got into my Pearl Jam collection this past week! Hell if it weren't for my Pearl Jam, VH, and Aerosmith CD's I'd only have about 600 CD'S! :D

I like Pearl Jam, but they are no VAN HALEN. It was good to see that VH was at least in the top 5. I kind of figured Aerosmith was going to win. I like them too, but dont' think that they are nearly as good as they were in the 70s.

By the time Pearl Jam had that album in '90-'91, Van Halen already sold multi-platinum albums with two diffrent singers..., the ones that VH released after that(FUCK and Balance) had all the same greatness of the others.

Pearl Jam, come on, they will always be a garage band compare to Van Halen.
Yeah, but here's the thing....look how many they have released since TEN. It's almost like they are putting out a new CD every year or so. Hell, if Sammy and the guys REALLY want to make more money off of the last tour, they should BE more like Pearl Jam. Release those concerts to the public.

You KNOW they would sell like hotcakes.

I agree with what Roland says here, VH was bigger, Aerosmith was too. Bunch of kids probably voted for them. But once again it's a matter of preference.

Van halen is much better. I dont really know many of Pearl Jams songs, but a band that has eddie van halen(the god of all guitarists) gets my vote

Okay, let's poll the people OUTSIDE of the Seattle area and see what the results would be! What kind of crap are people trying to pull here!?!?! Pearl Jam has BARELY been big longer than a decade and a half, and now they're one of the greatest of all time??????? With all do respect, Aerosmith needs to be at the top of the liste and so does VH.....A couple of successful albums gets you on the list nowadays....hmmmmmmm

Hey, I'm 30, and from TEXAS. I am a huge Pearl Jam fan. If you ever saw them perform back in the day you'd understand. It was like watching VH live. They just got in that zone where magic happened. The music just flowed. They have reached the point now where they can release just about anything and it would reach #1. Remember those days with Van Halen?
They could do no wrong.

NOT... hehehehe..

Yes Pearl Jam have written some great tunes, and are fantastic live, but they are not up there with VH..

I dunno about today with the flooding of groups out here. You'll have to try and sell me the idea that they're still in the top echelon of music sellers.

No offense to the Starbucks loving, Microsoft buying SEATTLITES out here, but I just don't see how a band in todays world can be the best of ALL TIME when they've been popular less than two decades! Do I hear an AMEN out here?!?!?!

It's all in the album sales and, oh yeah they're touring this year without the benefit of a new album do untill the begining of next year. And ohh, look the shows are selling out world wide. Go figure.:trouble2: :Mad2:
