Trying to go this one. How is sound in nassau?
well.... me and my kid bro are hookn up with JC (axeshredder) for some good old parkn lot debauchery b4 the show...
as far as the sound.. well.. frm MANY shows in the past... everything will sound better if you have decent earplugs... they kick/filter out the boominess usually common to indoor venues that really arent designed for concerts of THIS power... tis why the outdoor shows at jones beach ALWAYS rock.... anyway, it was these indoor shows, the garden too, that we started wearing the plugs for.. u will also not get a headache or ringin from the volume.. the plugs are a plus if you are in the general oval-floor / stage section.. not so much if you are way up, but they will still help. hate indoor shows... but... jones beach as great a venue as it is, seen halen there 4 times,,, awesome, dont think it has the seating capactiy... but it would surely be THE place if there were a choice!

thanks- may have to join you in the parking lot for some brews.
If I had a choice between nassau, the garden ,and continental, what would be best in terms of sound and seating?

in general...imho, MOST sport arenas were NOT mainly built, i think, with HIGH volume, PACKED seating, concerts in mind.... not talkn britney, madonna type... mostly dance type music.... those fair pretty well.... since most is really pre-rec and not HIGH energy and HIGHER volume ala priest, ozz, or VH.... therefore, to me, ANY of these really dont do these types of concerts any justice no matter how good the soundman, it is still indoors and the volume is insane and has nowhere or way to dissipate, therefore, it goes round n round your head thus causing headaches, disorientation, tinitus, and other loud volume problemss.. most of all, hard to break the sound down in your head... blablabla...
saw halen at the garden for FUCK tour... great show... insanely annoyingly loud, horrific sound
saw them in 2004 at continental... eds problems only made an already horrid sound, sound even more horrid...
coliseum was not so bad when we saw ozz, crue, and a few others... my bet is coliseum...

Thanks for the details. Saw the 04 in Jersey- HORRIBLE. Others have told me Coliseum as well as it has been decent for rock shows in past. Plus, crowd is long island still stuck in 80's from what ive heard, and may attract less yuppie LA wannabes that the garden may attract
Thanks Little Elvis

the sound in 04 past the 15th row in jersey was way too loud and many complained. Ive seen many shows at the collesium and the sound was always great from any section. See ya there LE!:target:

Wasnt just the sound in jersey, it was eddies drunken state and feelings toward anthony, and Hagar was overweight and felt he lost a lot on his vocals as well. where are your seats for Nassau? I still havent bought yet, Ill get from stubhub soon

Axe-
They must have issued more ticks last night? cause I got for 76.50 at Nassau Section 325 Row S. Sounds pretty high. If it is way up in nosebleed, can we move down if we find open seats further down? how are the security guaards there?
axeshredder

im sec 115 row AA $168..security is strict but a $20 bill can get you a seat closer with some guards after a few songs

all i could say.... is WOW.... WHAT A SHOW~~
the sheer energy of what they physically put into the songs is beyond what most any act could do these days... period. to see the strain on dave and ed's face... workin so hard to be as 'ON' as possible... and they were... the sound for the coliseum was better than any i ever heard there.... musically, it was fabulous... at times there seemed to be sound problems but not many that destroyed anything... some timing issues... no prob... ed and alex always came together and fixed things... hey.. they may not be able to do the flying around the stage like tazmanian devils as they used to... but they CAN and DID PERFORM! i gotta take my hat off to Dave... if anyone... ANYONE ever says or thought he CANT sing... you are are insane... he hit almost all the highs... but SANG... and SANG EVERY song.... physically, for all the elders of the band... sure, it may and did come, harder than before to do it.... not as easy as it used to be to do the same songs... but damn... they did them.. and to that.. they did them.... WELL..... just hope there is a future for them that creates an album... have some pics, not bad.. will put em up...
ROCK ON Van Halen.... for a long time to come

What a great show. Not much more to add from the other posts other than my experience...
Let me start by saying this was my first VH concert with Dave. I have seen them both before many times but never together. The 1984 concert I was 13 and my mom said I was too young to go. She said I can always see them when I get a little older. Who tought it would be 35.
Went to the 11-8 show with my two friends from high school who went with me to the DLR Scyscraper show. When we arrived at NVC and got out it was like stepping back in time. Every car was playing classic VH and people were having fun tailgating, drinking and tok'in. We ran into so many frineds from HS, it was great. When inside the arena, outside the "smoking tent" my one friend from HS ran into Steve Vai! We chatted with him for about 30 min. He was really cool, haning with the fans. Vai is from LI so I guess it was not a suprise he was there, but haging with fans was totally cool.
When the show started the crowed was right into it. The whole band sounded great. Wolfie sounded good but I felt he needed to lighten up and interact with Dad and Dave more. Really missed Mikey but sounded great none the less. Romeo Delight sounded really good. Dave did every word and the timing was great. So was Everybody Wants Some and Cradle Will Rock. I would have loved to see Miss Phys Ed go on stage for Hot For Teacher :), but sounded great anyway.
I liked the fact that there was no gimmics though. They just rocked hard and let the music do the talking. One thing that too me by suprise was during Eddie's Solo, instead of fans holing lighters they all had their cell phones out recording the piece. It was quite funny, so many were out it was like the lighters were out. I guess a sign of the times.
My friends and I left the show completely satisfied. Well worth $160 a ticket. We will probably see the show at the garden on Tuesday.
Great show Alex, Eddie, Dave and Wolfie. Thanks so much for making this happen.

I was at the Nassau Col show. DLR sounded great. Wolfie was impressive, not MA but for 16 he did great. The sound in my seats was a little muddy so I could not really hear his basslines. Also since I was side of the stage I can't say the drums were as clear as I wanted, I was hearing mean slapback on the kick drum
Setlist is a wet dream as we all know.
I thought the first half was fantastic, but about half way through something was off. It sounded like a speaker blew, the guitar was a little off and I didn't get it until the guitar solo. Now I am not speaking on fact but can anyone tell me if they think Ed was drinking cause his guitar solo was very sloppy. In fact women in love was barely recognizable.
I truly hope that it was my seats and I was just getting a bad mix.
Anyone?
